Marggi Vangeli,
PMA Certified Teacher and owner of Bodies in Balance, has
been practicing Pilates since 1978. After a 20-year career
in the music industry, injury and stress led her to the full-time
study of Pilates. This study led to the comprehensive training
program at Power Pilates, which she completed in 1999. She
received her Pilates Method Alliance certification in 2007
and currently serves on its Board of Directors. The desire
to continually improve her knowledge and teaching abilities
has been augmented by studies with Deborah Lessen, Michele
Larsson, Pat Guyton, Phoebe Higgins, and the anatomist, Irene
Dowd.
Suzanne Reiman, a graduate of The School
of Visual Arts of NYC, has roots in the dance and fitness
world. She has been studying and teaching Pilates since 1987.
She works alongside Deborah Lessen of the Greene Street Studio
where she completed her comprehensive training. Additionally,
she teaches privately and increases her knowledge of anatomy
by studying with the anatomist Irene Dowd.
Jill Denninger,
PMA Certified Teacher, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Modern Dance from the University of South Florida, where
she was first introduced to Pilates and began her practice.
She completed the Power Pilates comprehensive training program
in 1999 and was certified through the Pilates Method Alliance
in 2007. Additionally, Jill is a certified craniosacral therapist.
This provides her with an added depth of anatomical knowledge
which greatly benefits her clients. She continues her education
in both Pilates and craniosacral work by attending workshops
on an ongoing basis.
Michelle Kennedy, PT is a graduate of New
York University and holds a BS in Physical Therapy. Michelle
began her Pilates practice in 2002 and immediately fell in
love with this intelligent exercise system. Initially certified
in mat through the Professional Health and Fitness Institute,
she completed both mat (2005) and apparatus (2007) certifications
through PhysicalMind. She continues her study with master
teachers, Doris Pasteluer Hall and Leslie Powell at Movements
Afoot in NYC. Workshops have included study with Sherri Betz,
Phoebe Higgins and Deborah Lessen. Michelle's physical therapy
background includes courses in Maitland and McKenzie spinal
evaluation and treatment and osteoporosis management. Michelle
is dedicated to helping her clients understand and work with
the Pilates method to gain better control of their movement
and understand the role of core muscles to enhance posture
and the ability to move, during activities of daily living
as well as when exercising or playing a sport.
Melanie Rosamond began her movement career with classical ballet training. After completing a BA in Dance at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, she danced professionally with the Philadelphia Ballet. This love of dance led her to the study of different kinds of movement. Eventually, Melanie found Michele Larsson of Core Dynamics with whom she apprenticed and completed a formal training program in 1998. Melanie first taught at Power Pilates where she became a member of their teaching training staff. In 2000 she joined her colleague Marggi Vangeli at Bodies in Balance and became an integral part of the establishment of the studio. Melanie left Bodies in Balance in 2004 and continued her career in Birmingham as studio director at 119 Health and Wellness, an affiliate of St. Vincent's Hospital. Returning to Santa Fe in 2006, Melanie worked at Pilates of Santa Fe while continuing her studies in Alexander, Feldenkrais, and other modalities.
Happily, Melanie returned to Bodies in Balance in 2009 where she continues to use her expertise in challenging the healthy client while guiding individuals who need rehabilitative work.
Lauren Wightman was introduced to the practice
of Pilates at Bodies in Balance in 2001 prior to the birth
of her second child, Caroline. The ease with which she sailed
through her pregnancy helped her develop a real passion for
Pilates. With that in mind, she went to Power Pilates and
completed all three levels of mat certification finishing
the advanced level with highest honors. Included in her repertoire
are private mat, pre and post natal classes and kids mats.
She is currently looking forward to doing her equipment training.
Lauren's classes embrace the beginner and challenge the advanced
client. Find out more by signing up today for mat with her. |
